Kay and John – Hillbark Hotel

Kay and John were married up in Cheshire, with a service at a really nice United Reform Church at Thornton Hough and a wedding reception at Hillbark Hotel at Frankly Wirral.

Kay and John were a really nice couple, a real genuine tenderness between them and neither of them could stop grinning all day.

Hillbark Hotel is terrific photographically – just so many great places to shoot indoors and out, shame its not nearby. But then I will travel anywhere for a wedding!

Laura and Lee – Stonehouse court

Louise and Ashley at Queens Hotel, Cheltenham

Louise and Ashley wanted a very informal wedding, no big razz-ma-tazz, but where their guests would have fun. So as well as a live saxophonist they also had a magician entertaining at the tables.

Nicola and Jason at Clearwell Castle

Clearwell Castle is wonderfully photogenic on the outside: the stairs are a great place for shooting the large groups and I love exploring the grounds, there’s loads of terrific parts and backdrops.

It is a bit of a nightmare inside – presenting a range of technical challenges from very contrasty lighting, to heavy colours on the walls and a disco in the cellar which is nearly pitch black. If ever there was a location you need a professional with bags of experience its Clearwell.

Nicola and Jason had a winter wedding – the 30th December to be precise – and I was very concerned about the lack of daylight on the short day, but the timetable was perfect, the weather was perfect and we captured some absolutely terrific images.

Cat – Portfolio Shoot

Cat has been modelling for a while and I’ve had the pleasure of working with her on several occasions.

Cat is of course the featured girl in the Pose Book.

This session was put together with Lucy, her sister who is a qualified make-up artist.

Nice fashion shoot with Kelle, who you may know from Ladette to Lady!

Kelle is a Cardiff based model. The outdoor work was all done in the grounds around the studio, we are next door to Manor by the Lake and have a special arrangement with them to shoot around their lovely landscape gardens, lake and Manor.

This the album layout for Pam and Olly who had the wedding Reception at Bishopswood House down near the Forest of Dean. This was the first time I’d seen flying chinese lanterns which were really cool and good fun to let off.

Rinka Photo Set

This is Rinka taken in 2006. This is a bit of a blast from the past, but quite liked seeing some of these again.

Who: Rinka

What: Portfolio Build session.

When: 2006

Why: Rinka’s dad is a pretty good photographer, but found working with his daughter difficult. I understand this, my worst shoots are with my own family = probably because they never do as they’re told!

Where: The set was taken partly in the studios at Cheltenham Film Studios and then outdoors in the grounds.

We’re blessed at the studios, as well as the main photo studio indoors, outdoors we have wonderfully grotty bits of industrial space, woods, sculptured gardens and all sorts.

The woods contain trees from victorian exotic woods collections, so there are some very big, and quite unusual trees out there.
